Meet Annabelle’s Little Brother!!!

I was so excited to meet Bobby!  I first photographed Annabelle when she was just around the same age (7 months).  I always tell parents what a great time this is to capture – sitting up but not yet crawling.  It’s pretty much the easiest session they’ll ever have with their children!  And children at this age are so excited to be sitting up, seeing the world a whole new way – they smile easily, their skin is perfection and they still have some of the roundness & cherub quality of infancy.  I like to call this the “Gerber Baby” phase.  It’s a great time to bring in the black background for some classic portraits.  I usually retire this for families once a child reaches a walk/running phase.  It’s just too demanding to expect a small inquisitive, explorer to be confined to a “studio-like” setting.  That said, Miss Annabelle was an exception to the rule.  As true to form as her first session, she just sparkles in front of the lens.  What beautiful, fun and joyful children these two are!!!  Here are some faves from the session… or watch their slideshow here.

What a beautiful family!!!

Newborn Session with Clay!

Oh, photographing newborns is so lovely!  It passes soooooo quickly, this little brand-spankin-newness!  And it’s so incredibly sweet!

Clay was such a great baby, so sweet and observant and good natured.  And so darn cute!  He has the cutest dimples – just like his beautiful mama!  To view more of their session, you can view their slideshow.  To register to view their images online, click here.

For our session with Clay, I brought Melissa (my wonderful editing assistant, babysitter and a budding associate photographer!) as a training session.  Newborns can be tricky to photograph, for many reasons, so it’s great to have the opportunity to pass along a few pointers to keep the session relaxed and help create some beautiful images!

I love this one that Melissa caught!  It’s such a great catch, because little Clay won’t fit that way for too long!

And here are a few more faves from the session!

Blue Sky Studios – The Mini-Session Experiment!

June 24th… the experiment took place.

22 children, 14 families, 8 hours of natural light shooting in the beautiful Blue Sky Studios in San Francisco!!!

Bring it on!!! :)

It was soooooo much fun!  All of the children & families involved with the experiement were previous clients and good friends.  I was so excited to see and hangout with these cutiepies – even if just for 30 short minutes each.  We had a blast, threw around lots of balls, sat in lovely chairs and soft rugs, occassionally bonked heads (and bravely recovered!), wore tutus and danced around.

And we got some GREAT images!  I’m so happy with the results.  I was hoping that even though we were in a studio, that we’d still be able to get fun, natural, full-of-life images.  I think we got it!

Here is a fun slideshow of the highlights from the day.

Below I’ve also included just one fave of each kiddo!  It was so hard to narrow it down.

Enjoy & look out for more details future mini-session dates!
