For this session, I met Lily Rose, her parents, grandparents, nanny and dog at the beautiful Gamble Gardens in Palo Alto. This little girl is so happy & surrounded by so many people who love her! We had so much fun during the session, capturing Lily Rose in all of her beautiful outfits, checking out the flowers and playing with her sweet pup Milo. I was so lucky to meet Daylinda, Nick & Gabby last fall at one of my mini-sessions in San Francisco! Not only did they come via a referral from another favorite family, but they are also one of the sweetest, most loving families I’ve had the pleasure to photograph. They are the kind of family that makes couples want to have children & families add a few more of their own! Full of giggles and hugs and so much love. And now, they get to share the love with their newest addition, Miss Anna Malea!

Oh my goodness, she is so darn cute, I giggled and grinned the entire time I edited these images.

I had to post one of my very favorites from this session over the weekend, but here are some more from a wonderful maternity portrait session with Francesca, Tim & big brother Jules!

Wow – I love, love, love photographing these guys! I had the pleasure of photographing Francesca & Tim the day before Jules was born, then paid them a visit in the hospital on day 2 to capture some newborn pictures! Since then, I’ve gotten to capture Jules six month pictures, a fun 2 year old mini-session, an extended family session with Francesca’s parents and siblings, and now their #2! It’s an incredible feeling to be invited to continue to capture families as they grow. I feel so, so honored.

I love when I’m editing images and suddenly can’t help but laugh out loud. I love that when I’m spending time with families, they begin to relax and just enjoy being together. This was one of those perfect silly moments, and I felt very lucky to be able to capture it!

There are so many pics from this lovely session to share, as it was the full family affair: grandparents, two twin brothers, their beautiful wives and gorgeous kiddos. We shot at two beautiful wineries in the Napa Valley, Nickel & Nickel and Peju. I was blown away by the photo opportunities & can’t wait to shoot there again!

You may remember my sweet family photography session with Charlie & his Mom & Dad this summer!  Well, Charlie is now a big brother!!!  It was SO fun to come and meet his beautiful baby sister Lily, and congratulate mom & dad!   Our session was also visited by Charlie’s grandma, and a crazy San Francisco heat wave!   And even though we were all  melting, we were able to capture some lovely images.

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph Lauren in belly, at 1 year and now again at almost 2 years old!  She’s super fun to be with, and I especially loved photographing all of her many, many expressions!  Check out all the fun we captured during their session below!

To begin the session, we started at Lauren’s house… literally!  Her dad built her a playhouse in their backyard and she loves it!  Then we headed into Lauren’s room to read a few books and snap a few pictures in the sunlight streaming through her window bench.  After that we headed out to Golden Gate Park to play in the grass, between the benches, over by the De Young Museum and then into the rotunda, and back to the benches!  Did I mention that Lauren is almost 2?!!!  So fun!  I think we all took a long nap that afternoon!

When Sarah called me to set up her session, I was so excited to hear her say that she wasn’t interested in any posed portraits.  In general, I approach my shoots with a focus on capturing families in a natural, storytelling way – which means undirected and unposed.  That said, I often find that parents want a camera-aware picture of their whole family as well.  And I get that – I’m a parent too!  I always say, here’s one for grandma and grandpa (or the holiday card, etc!).  So if that is part of the request list, we strategize about ways to capture the “posed” shot in a way that is hopefully fun and painless!  But Sarah knows her children well, and she understood that to truly capture them, no posing was required.

Meet my new friend Charlie!!!  You know how sometimes, you really just click with people?  That’s how I feel about Charlie.  What a sweet, sweet, charming, funny and very clever little guy he is!!!  I was so lucky to get to hang out with his family for a beautiful session at their home and then Golden Gate Park.   Charlie has a little sister on the way too – I can’t wait to meet her!

I’m almost done editing their images, but I just had to share a few!!!  There is such love and joy in this family… enjoy!

Ben’s parent’s purchased a maternity, newborn and 6 month package to help capture Ben’s first year.  Heading over to Ben’s 3rd session, I couldn’t help thinking about how I have the best job ever!  It is soooooo much fun to see these little guys go from bump to baby to toddler and on!   

Ben of course, had changed so much in the 7 months since I had seen him last!  This is of course, the perfect timing for the “gerber baby” shots.  Sitting up, but not yet really crawling!  But before we headed to the black background shots, we grabbed some fun shots of Ben in his crib.  

I always giggle when I see crib shots, it’s this funny tension between it looking like a fun spot & a jail that must be escaped!

Ben doesn’t seem bothered though!  He’s a super happy little guy!!!
