It’s so natural to worry about rain on your wedding day.  There is so little (well, actually nothing I guess!) that we can do to control the weather, even after spending a year or more planning a celebration!  But the funny thing is, I think rainy day weddings have been huge favorites of mine.  I hope my images illustrate my love and wonder at the authentic moment, and really nothing brings out authenticity like the unexpected.  And each of the weddings I’ve photographed that have had some unexpected rain, have always shown me how AWESOME people are!  And that is truly beautiful.

I loved how on Julie & Jimmy’s wedding day, nothing (not even the rain) could take the smiles off their faces, or their faces of their guests and families. Guests enjoyed extra time to socialize before the wedding ceremony, patiently waiting while the vendor team calmly switched set-up & locations for some of the events, wiped down chairs & passed out umbrellas.  And as the sun peeped out to greet everyone again, the beauty of the Napa Valley, was even more sweet; it quite literally sparkled!  All that in mind, it makes so much more sense to me now how rain on your wedding day is considered a blessing.

There were so many beautiful elements to Julie & Jimmy’s wedding day: I so loved & appreciated the way they included their family directly in their beautiful ceremony, performing blessings over the rings, a shared reading about joining hands & lives, gorgeous music sung by Jimmy’s cousins, and the cord & veil ceremony.  So beautiful.  I love how when you are with Julie & Jimmy, you can just sense how much they love and support one another.  And can I just pause and say how moved I was by the children at their wedding?  From Julie’s nieces helping fasten her gown (their little purple painted fingers were much more effective than the knitting needle for the loop buttons!) & twirling dresses with Julie, to Jimmy’s sons full of hugs & love for Jimmy & Julie, their beautiful toasts/awesome dancing & beat-boxing too, seriously I hope some of the images captured how amazing these kiddos truly are.  And with their wonderful families and friends celebrating with them, it was truly a blessed day.

Oh, I haven’t even gotten to describe the lovely visual elements of the day, from gorgeous florals & linens to sweet personal touches galore, I’ll let the images speak for themselves!  Below are just a few favorites from the day.  Or view their slideshow for more!
