Unposed please!

When Sarah called me to set up her session, I was so excited to hear her say that she wasn’t interested in any posed portraits.  In general, I approach my shoots with a focus on capturing families in a natural, storytelling way – which means undirected and unposed.  That said, I often find that parents want a camera-aware picture of their whole family as well.  And I get that – I’m a parent too!  I always say, here’s one for grandma and grandpa (or the holiday card, etc!).  So if that is part of the request list, we strategize about ways to capture the “posed” shot in a way that is hopefully fun and painless!  But Sarah knows her children well, and she understood that to truly capture them, no posing was required.
