Okay, so for me, this is really what it’s all about. When I started my business in 2002, my goal was to create a lifecycle photography business: from engagement, to weddings, to maternity, to newborn, to infant, to family photography… and then maybe even their children’s weddings?!! It’s such a privilege capturing families over the course of many years, watching their children grow and grow. Three years ago, I photographed Alice as she neared her first year, and now her little brother Henry is nearing his first birthday! I Ioved putting together this quick side-by-side of my first session with both of them!

Isn’t that sweet?!!!
I’ve been so lucky to photograph Alice and her cousins many times since my first shoot with Alice’s cousin Annabelle 3 years ago, and I was so excited to meet Henry, the newest addition to their beautiful family tree!
And oh my goodness, what a cutiepie he is! I kept giggling with him during our “black background” shots, because he photographs like he was born for the camera.

I know it’s hard to tell, looking at these shots, but my black background shots are never posed. It’s just a nice soft background that babies love, and we just let them crawl and play around and bask in the window light while I quickly snap away. But I love how Henry turns his cherubic face towards the light in the shot above – like a little model! So sweet!
The black background is super fun, and a great way to capture the “gerber baby” stage as I like to call it. But I limit it to babies under a year old, as once their really moving, a more classic portrait set-up can be torture for small children! We love to have fun during our sessions, which pretty much means letting kids just run around and be themselves.
I loved these next shots of Alice, doing exactly that!

And I love this sweet moment between Henry and Alice!

And this one too! HeeHee!

I’m happy to report that Alice still has all 10 of her toes!!!

Roxana & Tobin, thank you so much for inviting me to photograph your family again – what fun!!!
