Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

I just had to share this beautiful San Francisco wedding today – so many gorgeous fall colors to match the season! But most of all, two beautiful people joining together. It reminds me of how grateful I am to be able to do the work I love, while both capturing & witnessing these incredible and inspiring moments full of love and beauty.

I adore Style Me Pretty for all things wedding! SO much so, I have to limit my time during each visit, or I’ll suddenly find hours have passed without my noticing!!!

So it’s such a pleasure to see Katie & Lee’s wedding featured this week on their Little Black Book blog! Artfully planned by Amy Nichols Special Events, with an iconic, San Francisco-inspired theme, Katie & Lee’s wedding was absolutely stunning with gorgeous contributions from each of their vendors. I still can’t get over the invitation & print designs by Design des Troy & florals by Soulflower Floral Design – just beautiful! There are so many things that jumped out at me while I was editing Katie & Lee’s images. But the first image below, probably sums it up for me. Such joy and love on their wedding day – who could resist a smile looking at that image?

Other parts that I loved about Katie & Lee’s wedding?

The jaw-droppingly gorgeous locations – it felt like a gift to be attending a wedding at the San Francisco Ferry Building – an amazing piece of beauty & history! Katie’s customized wedding dress hanger! The beautiful blues & greens carried throughout the wedding. The amazing graphic design that iconized the San Francisco elements on all of their printed materials from the save the date & to table names & escort cards at the reception. The elegant effect of all white bouquets the bridesmaids carried. The gorgeous bouquet Katie carried of all the combined white blooms. I loved that the guests were all transported from hotel, to the church to the reception in a classic cable cars. The fierce love their family and friends clearly felt for these two – I loved Katie’s sister’s speech & the best man’s speech about Lee’s fighting skills as a teenager – seriously funny! Tainted Love – these folks seriously rocked it!

It was a wedding that even in it’s incredible beauty, invited you to share the moment. We went a little crazy taking pictures I have to admit – so many beautiful moments to capture! Here are just a few favorites from the day or view their slideshow for more!

Tracy & Aaron may have one of the coolest engagement stories ever! Aaron proposed to Tracy on the very TOP of the Golden Gate Bridge!!! So when planning their wedding, they wanted to have a view of the Golden Gate. The St. Francis Yacht Club was the perfect location, and provided their guests with one of the most beautiful sunset views imaginable. Tracy & the girls got ready in a beautiful suite at the Ritz Carlton San Francisco, their wedding ceremony took place at the lovely St. Marks Church, and the wedding party rode to the reception in a San Francisco cable car! It was a quintessential, beautiful, classic & fun San Francisco wedding, and just full of the beautiful love these two have for one another & their family & friends.

Jen & Stephen had such a lovely wedding at Treasure Island’s Casa de la Vista, surrounded by family and friends. They created a fun, welcoming & elegant environment for their guests, while treating them to incredible views of the city as a stunning backdrop! It was so much fun to photograph Jen & Stephen by the vista, in the different light as the day progressed, and watch the way the sky & skyline transformed into the evening. Noelle + Kevin | Portola Valley Presbyterian Church & Private Home Wedding

Noelle & Kevin are the kind of couple that love stories and love songs aspire to emulate: so sweet, so full of love, so right, so very meant to be. And they planned a wedding that perfectly reflected that love, their experiences together & their wonderful community of family & friends. Their wedding was truly a pleasure to capture, and incredibly inspiring.

They were married at the beautiful Valley Presbyterian Church, where Noelle had literally grown up. Her parents are both pastors at the church, and had been since she was two. Needless to say, there were may people who wanted to celebrate with Noelle & Kevin; it was standing room only during the ceremony! One of my favorite moments during the ceremony was the “laying on of hands.” The image of the entire congregation connecting to one another, to join in a blessing of Noelle & Kevin, was truly moving.

I also loved all of the personal touches that Noelle & Kevin brought to the reception, which was at the beautiful home of a family friend. Since Kevin had proposed to Noelle on their trip to Italy, they incorporated lots of Italian touches into the reception. The table were set up in a beautiful serpentine arrangement, perfect for a family style Italian dinner of hand-tossed pizzas, pastas and of course Italian wines! The place cards were actually designed as passports, and inside filled with Italian trivia questions. They were serenaded to “That’s Amore,” sung by Kevin’s best man and accompanied on mini-accordian by Kevin’s brother. Instead of cake, they sliced a cannoli for their dessert and served gelato as well. Mmmmm belissimo! Caterman did a lovely job of bringing this Italian feast together!

Oh, and did I mention that the passports, programs, bouquets and floral arrangements were all DIY?!! And they could not have been more perfect. You’ll have to peek at the slideshow and favorites below to see for yourself.

What a wonderful day – Kevin & Noelle, thank you SO much for inviting me to capture it!

Bao & James’ wedding was the perfect mixture of elegance & sheer fun! With the St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco as the beautiful backdrop, one of the most gorgeous days of May weather to bolster it, and stunning floral & event design, there were lovely visual touches in every direction. That all said, what stood out for me, were the wonderful friends and family that came to celebrate with Bao & James. From serenades (see if you can spot James’ version of Alicia Keys’ “No One” in the slideshow!) to guest appearances by one very large penguin, to lots of silly photo booth pictures & some serious dance moves, there was so much love & laughter at their wedding!

Grace Cathedral, Ferry Building & Piers Engagement Session | Nicole + John {continued}

Wow. I’m getting choked up even before I begin to write this post. My sweet, sweet friend Nicole is about to marry her beloved. I’m so happy & excited for them both. Nicole is one of the funniest, full of life people that I have ever met. And John is a perfect, perfect fit. I had so much fun during our fun engagement session, and cannot wait to capture their wedding day!!!

It’s not often that I have the privilege of photographing my dear friends’ weddings. It’s a bit tricky… to be a guest or to work… but after trying it both ways, I’ve realized that it’s actually harder to *not* be the photographer. I love my *press pass* into all of the moments of the day. I feel like, as a guest, I miss so much of that! And then I feel dorky taking out my camera. Which is just plain weird! So I was thrilled and honored when Nicole asked me to capture her wedding day at the beautiful Villa Montalvo.

For their engagement session, we decided to start at Grace Cathedral, where John proposed to Nicole. Nicole had a whimsical inspiration, and brought along some super sweet heart balloons for some fun shots during the session. We were able to catch some beautiful cherry blossom trees in bloom across the street at the park, then headed to the Ferry Building for part two.

We decided to take a pit stop to grab a little bite to eat, and John was thrilled to find out we had hit the Hogs Island Oyster Bar at happy hour!!! Oysters were $1 and pints $3.50! This was a very happy discovery!!!

After properly refueling, we strolled the piers for these final shots. I love how much fun these two have together.

Phew! I successfully held it together both shooting and posting this session! Please wish me luck at the wedding {thank goodness for autofocus}!

I love the way that Liou & Darryl planned their very beautiful & intimate wedding weekend. It started with photographs at the breathtaking Muir Woods, early Friday morning, with fog still drifting in the treetops. Then we all headed to San Francisco City Hall for the civil ceremony in their beautiful rotunda. Wow. Such different but equally beautiful settings. On Saturday, they invited friends & family to a lovely lunch and celebration at the Bella Vista restaurant. More on that soon, but here are some favorites from day one!
