Each time I head to Stanford University for a session, I’m awed by how beautiful it is and how many different but gorgeous little spots there are to photograph. Victoria grew up right next to Stanford, and they both attended graduate school there. And they introduced me to yet even more lovely locations! I had such a great time getting to know Victoria & Drew better, and I am SO excited for their wedding next summer at the Oceano Hotel in Half Moon Bay!

How sweet are these two?!!

For Caitlin & Timm’s engagement session, we met at the home where she grew up in Portola Valley, and where they both still spend time with her family. It’s clear that there is a lot of love in this home, and it’s a beautiful, peaceful space. A perfect place for their session. These two are so at ease together, and I so enjoyed spending time getting to know them a bit better. I’m really looking forward to their wedding at Villa Montalvo next summer! Lucy & Jordan had a beautiful wedding in Half Moon Bay at the lovely Half Moon Bay Golf Links, full of fun, a few wonderful sprinklings of drama and some unforgettable signs of love & friendship. Throughout it all, Lucy & Jordan were so easy-going and so happy to celebrate with family & friends. We did get a little rain, but in their good-natured way, Lucy & Jordan braved the elements with umbrellas and smiles. So many fun moments at their wedding. I loved how when editing the images, we kept coming across great storytelling images of the tea ceremony, of the pre-ceremony portraits, of Bagel the Beagle/Ring Bearer, of the wedding party announcement, of the many toasts with all of Lucy & Jordan’s guests, of the slideshow, of Jordan’s famous dance moves, and of some amazing dance moves all around!

That all said, my absolute favorite moment of the night had to be when the power went out briefly, but right about the time that first dance was to start. While no one knew how long the power would be out, the DJ quickly trained & led the wedding party in a song. Surrounded by those they love, holding candles to light the room, Lucy & Jordan were serenaded as they danced their first dance to Journey’s Open Arms. It was awesome and completely unforgettable!!! The power came on quickly afterwards, and the party continued!

I love, love, love working with referrals. It’s like a guarantee of fun, because awesome people always refer awesome people! Katie was a bridesmaid at her friend Katie’s wedding last year that I photographed, which was one of my favorite weddings of the 2009 – so much fun! So I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph she & Jeremy’s wedding this summer!

Katie & Jeremy’s wedding at Kohl Mansion in Burlingame just gorgeous. The location was stunning, the weather was perfect, and the details of the day were simply beautiful. Katie & Jeremy were surrounded by lots of family & friends who came to celebrate them – and celebrate they did! Lots of fun was had, especially during the later hours of the reception – although I did leave the pictures of the “brain freeze” out of the bIog post! You’ll have to believe me that Katie was just as impressive as her brother & Jeremy – so fun! And check out the taco truck that Katie & Jeremy had arrive at the end of the reception to feed their guests a little late night snack – a truly brilliant plan!!!

Mia & John’s wedding had that wonderful blend of casual elegance that brought together beautiful details, a warm & inviting setting, and a ton fun! It was a perfect reflection of them as a couple too. Mia & John have known each other since their freshman year of high school when they sat next to one another in English class {so sweet!}. So it was not surprising to find a deep sense connection in them and in the family & friends that came together to celebrate their wedding day. The girls got ready at the beautiful Rosewood Sand Hill, and the guys got ready at John’s family home, which was transformed into their gorgeous wedding reception venue. Our Lady of the Wayside Church provided an intimate and sweet setting for their ceremony, and Mia & John rode from the ceremony to reception in a beautiful vintage car. So many lovely details & moments to photograph! Gorgeous floral design & event planning beautifully executed by Amanda Thorne, an incredible menu was created by Fork & Spoon, Pride & Joy rocked the reception and the dance floor was packed – it was a seriously good time! Nicole & John’s wedding at Villa Montalvo was full of timeless beauty – which is a perfect way to describe the sweet love these two have for one another. From the stunning vintage-inspired dress Nicole wore, to the framed family portraits on display of generations of marriages within Nicole & John’s families (400 years of marriage were displayed on that table – wow!), to a lovely soft pink palette of gorgeous floral arrangements, to inspired placecards designed by Nicole’s talented sister, so many personal touches that made their day so easy to connect to, and so much fun to photograph. Nicole & John, and their families, not only created an atmosphere that was beautiful to look at, they carefully thought out ways to make the evening incredibly fun for their guests: delicious food, an amazing band, even a super fun photo booth to encourage lots of great pictures with their guests. Noelle & Kevin are the kind of couple that love stories and love songs aspire to emulate: so sweet, so full of love, so right, so very meant to be. And they planned a wedding that perfectly reflected that love, their experiences together & their wonderful community of family & friends. Their wedding was truly a pleasure to capture, and incredibly inspiring.

They were married at the beautiful Valley Presbyterian Church, where Noelle had literally grown up. Her parents are both pastors at the church, and had been since she was two. Needless to say, there were may people who wanted to celebrate with Noelle & Kevin; it was standing room only during the ceremony! One of my favorite moments during the ceremony was the “laying on of hands.” The image of the entire congregation connecting to one another, to join in a blessing of Noelle & Kevin, was truly moving.

I also loved all of the personal touches that Noelle & Kevin brought to the reception, which was at the beautiful home of a family friend. Since Kevin had proposed to Noelle on their trip to Italy, they incorporated lots of Italian touches into the reception. The table were set up in a beautiful serpentine arrangement, perfect for a family style Italian dinner of hand-tossed pizzas, pastas and of course Italian wines! The place cards were actually designed as passports, and inside filled with Italian trivia questions. They were serenaded to “That’s Amore,” sung by Kevin’s best man and accompanied on mini-accordian by Kevin’s brother. Instead of cake, they sliced a cannoli for their dessert and served gelato as well. Mmmmm belissimo! Caterman did a lovely job of bringing this Italian feast together!

Oh, and did I mention that the passports, programs, bouquets and floral arrangements were all DIY?!! And they could not have been more perfect. You’ll have to peek at the slideshow and favorites below to see for yourself.

For day two of Liou & Darryl’s wedding weekend, they invited an intimate group of family and friends to the beautiful Bella Vista Restaurant to celebrate. Bella Vista, as the name implies, has a gorgeous view of the San Francisco Bay. It’s nestled in the hills over Half Moon Bay, on highway 35. Driving to it from San Francisco, you get beautiful glimpses of the Pacific Ocean, then drive deeper into the Woodside redwoods to find this little jewel.

Klaudia & Darren were married at the Bella Vista in Woodside, surrounded by close family and friends.  The Bella Vista was such an intimate and cozy location.  It’s nestled in the hills along Hwy 35, with sweeping views of the entire peninsula & bay.  And set along the treeline, we captured some stunning pictures of Klaudia & Darren.   These two were so fun and willing to really trek out into the woods so we could play with the glowy light and majestic height of the trees.  Here are some faves:

I love Klaudia’s radiant smile in this shot!  She’s giggling as everyone is trying to figure out how to bustle her gown, and I think the warmth in her expression makes the glowing backlight a perfect compliment to the image.

Finally, I had to include just a few of the details shots. Karen Baba of Plan Decor created a beautiful setting with her floral & event design!   I loved the way the reds in the flowers complimented the natural woods and views of the restaurant, while also perfectly matching the vibrant energy & playfulness of Klaudia & Darren.
