If you’ve been following my earlier blog posts, you’ll have seen Allison & Dustin’s maternity session! So you’ll know that I was thrilled to be able to meet little Miss Isabella!!! She was a sleepy girl when I met her, so we kept the session short and sweet. We were still able to capture some sweet moments with her parents, and oh those little teeny tiny fingers and toes! I love how she rested so happily on her momma’s chest, her little hand fitting just under her chin. She is a loved girl, and I can’t wait to see her grow!

I was so excited to capture this session for Allison & Dustin. I photographed their wedding at Trentadue winery in 2009, and to be capturing their maternity and newborn session with their first child is really what it’s all about for me! I love being able to see the progression of each story I capture. I don’t know if it’s like this for everyone, but I’m always a bit sad when I finish a great book. By the time the book ends, I have gotten to know the characters, laughed and cried and cheered with them, and I’m never really ready to say goodbye. The stories I capture during a wedding day, feel much the same to me. So I am always thrilled when I am able to capture other moments in the lives of my clients. One of the most beautiful moments of course, is the welcoming of a child into their lives. These two are all about love and family, and they just glowed with joy and anticipation throughout our session, which matched the lovely, glowing light in this magical spot in Marin. Here are just a few favorites from our session!

I love when new, expectant parents call me to capture their maternity & newborn sessions. It’s such a wondrous time, and so full of anticipation. It’s exciting to be a part of something from the beginning, helping to capture these lovely, life-changing moments. Marce called me when she was in her last month of pregnancy, and I am so happy now that she did! Her little girl arrived a few weeks earlier than expected, so we caught this moment just in time! We spent part of the session at their home, then headed out to Gamble Gardens for some lovely outdoor photos.

San Francisco Newborn Photography | Welcome Jack!

I was so excited to see Kate this past spring at the San Francisco Birth & Baby Fair! She and I met about 6 years ago when I was still working in the corporate world & photographing on the weekends, and we hadn’t seen each other in about 5 years! So I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph the arrival of her little guy this summer. We had such a fun session, and baby Jack was such a sweet, gorgeous little guy. After a super cold summer in the Bay Area, the day of Jack’s session was one of the warmest of the entire summer. The heat was a bit shocking to Kate, Chase & I, but little Jack snoozed like… well a beautiful little baby!

I love it when this happens! Last summer I photographed Lesley & Needham’s beautiful wedding at the Brazilian Room, and last month Needham called me to schedule a newborn session for their beautiful son Niko! Not only did I get to hang out with them again (which is always so much fun – Lesley is so sweet & Needham just cracks me up!), but it means so much to me when the couples I work with invite me to help them document this next phase of their lives as well. What an incredible honor.

Clay became a big brother this past month! I actually blogged Clay’s newborn session just two summers ago! I feel so fortunate to capture these moments for families, while also being reminded myself of how quickly time passes. I swear I was just at their sweet home cooing at Clay! And now he’s the big brother to Colden! Clay still has those incredibly cute dimples, and his little brother is such a love. Colden was super mellow and easy, although not at all sleepy! We captured lots of fun expression on both boys, and I can’t wait to see them again to watch them change & grow.

If you saw Michelle & Lucas’ maternity photography session, you’ll recognize this gorgeous family, with their new little son Xavier! I was so excited to meet him, and capture them all together as a family outside the womb! I loved how during their maternity session, I could imagine Michelle & Lucas as parents. They have so much love for each other, and they laugh so easily together. You can tell that not only will Xavier be treasured, but be surrounded by fun and giggles too! I can’t wait to see him at our next session!

I was so excited when Michelle & Lucas decided to book a 3-session package for this year, to capture maternity, newborn and infant images of their upcoming arrival, or as they like to refer to as their “Little Awesome.” So sweet! WOW. And WOW again.

I had no idea that the photo contest would get this kind of response!!! The total number of votes was over 2,000!!!

So, these children are very loved. That is clear. The support they generated was just inspiring. So inspiring, that I’m expanding the winnings a bit, so that everyone wins!

You see, I’m the kind of mom that when my kids have birthday parties, I make sure no one “loses” at birthday games. When the kids run like mad to find the last chair in musical chairs, and suddenly they are “out,” that’s when they get a prize. I admit, it’s kind of confusing, because suddenly, it’s fun to get “out.” But for me, I guess I like that win or lose, it’s always fun to participate.
